Can House Be Approved For Occupancy?

Question: Our new home in Lincoln Township, Berrien County, Michigan, does not meet zoning, "shall be connected to storm sewer". Can the house be approved for occupancy?

Answer: The building inspector may make a mistake and miss the fact that the home is not connected to the storm sewer and issue the Certificate of Occupancy. Are you sure the zoning calls for connection to the storm sewer or does it require connection with the "sanitary sewer"? Is this connection to the storm sewer for a basement drain? Does it affect the ability to live in the house? I could answer better with a few more facts.
